About theconcern.

Pigmentation appears when melanocytes produce more melanin in some areas than in others. The most common triggers are ultraviolet exposure, hormonal changes, inflammation after acne or irritation, and age. Sun spots, freckles, post-inflammatory marks and melasma are all forms of pigmentation — but they sit at different depths and behave differently.

In Dubai, the strength of the sun and the length of the season mean pigment is stimulated almost all year. Even short daily exposure, through a car window or on a terrace, adds up. That is why treatment always goes together with strict sun protection — without it, spots return.

How we help

What canwe help with?

  • Sun spots and age spots on the face and hands
  • Freckles that have become more pronounced
  • Dark marks left after acne or irritation
  • An uneven, blotchy skin tone
  • Pigment on the neck and décolleté
  • Dullness from accumulated sun damage

See a doctor first

We check every one of these at the consultation — and say no when saying no is the right answer.

  • A spot that is new, changing, irregular, raised or bleeding — see a dermatologist to rule out skin cancer first
  • Melasma — it needs a different, more cautious approach (see the melasma page)
  • Recent tanning or a holiday in the sun planned soon after treatment
  • Pregnancy and breastfeeding — most lasers and depigmenting protocols are postponed
  • Medications that increase sensitivity to light — tell the doctor what you take
How to choose

Matching thetreatment to you.

The doctor first identifies the type and depth of pigment. Well-defined surface spots respond well to Lumecca IPL; deeper or more stubborn pigment is treated with the Alma-Q photoacoustic laser, which breaks pigment into fine particles the body clears over the following weeks.

Skin type matters. Darker skin types carry a higher risk of post-inflammatory pigmentation, so the doctor often favours peels and depigmenting protocols — PCA, ME LINE, Azelaico — and adjusts laser settings conservatively. Dermablate resurfacing is used where texture and pigment need to be treated together.

Season matters too. Light and laser treatments are planned when sun exposure can be controlled, and every plan includes home care and daily SPF.

Treatment details

Three steps,no surprises.

  1. 01

    Consultation and diagnosis

The doctor examines the pigment under magnification, identifies its type and depth, and checks for any spot that should be seen by a dermatologist first.

  2. 02

    Treatment course

A course of laser, light or peels, spaced a few weeks apart, with depigmenting home care and daily sun protection between sessions.

  3. 03

    Review and maintenance

We compare photographs after the course and plan maintenance — pigment tends to return with sun exposure, so a yearly top-up is common.

FAQ

Asked beforebooking.

Individual spots can often be cleared, but the skin keeps its tendency to produce pigment. Daily sun protection and occasional maintenance keep the result.

It depends on the pigment and your skin type. Lasers and IPL work well on defined spots; peels and depigmenting protocols suit diffuse pigment and darker skin types. Often both are combined.

It can be, with the right device and conservative settings. The doctor assesses your skin type and may start with peels or a test area.

After laser or IPL, treated spots often darken and then flake or fade over one to two weeks. This is expected.

Ideally in the cooler months, when sun exposure is easier to avoid. Some treatments can be done year-round with careful sun protection.

It depends on the method and the number of sessions. The Alma-Q photoacoustic treatment is priced on this page; the other options have their prices on their own pages.
